Weiyun Zhilian AP300 uses two Nordic nRF52833 SoCs to achieve low-power Bluetooth and/or Zigbee device networking

Nordic Semiconductor announced that Wayclouds, a Beijing-based Internet of Things (IoT) solutions company, has selected nRF52833 for its "Wireless Access Point 300 Series (AP300)" and "Wireless Access Point 100 Series (AP100)" devices. Power consumption Bluetooth (Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE)) system-on-chip (SoC)).   These wireless access point devices are designed for smart vertical markets (such as smart buildings, smart offices, and industrial IoT), and support multi-protocol networks, while greatly reducing the installation and maintenance costs of secure IoT deployments. These gateways support systems that provide access and management, video surveillance, artificial intelligence (AI) image acceleration computing, and other application services.   The weight of the AP300 gateway device is 600g, the size is 200 x 150 x 20.5mm, and it can be installed on the ceiling or wall. In addition to the Wi-Fi coverage function provided by traditional wireless access points, AP300 also integrates low-power Bluetooth, Zigbee and other IoT protocols to interconnect smart devices. This product integrates two Nordic nRF52833 SoC devices, one for a dedicated low-power Bluetooth gateway and the other for a Zigbee gateway, so it can use any short-range protocol to relay data in the network to the cloud. AP100 wireless access point integrates a single Nordic nRF52833 SoC to provide low-power Bluetooth or Zigbee wireless connection. Both AP300 and AP100 have infrared (IR) function to realize IR connection. Nordic's nRF52833 advanced multi-protocol SoC combines a 64MHz, 32-bit Arm®Cortex®M4 processor with a floating point unit (FPU), and a 2.4GHz multi-protocol radio (supports Bluetooth 5.2, Bluetooth Mesh, direction finding, 2Mbps throughput High volume and long distance, as well as Thread, Zigbee, IEEE 802.15.4 and proprietary 2.4GHz RF protocol software), with -95dBm RX sensitivity, with 512kB flash memory and 128kB RAM. Its dynamic multi-protocol function uniquely supports concurrent wireless connections of these protocols.   Nordic's Bluetooth RF protocol stack S113 and S140 SoftDevice support nRF52833. S140 is a qualified Bluetooth 5.2 stack that includes 2 Mbps throughput and long-distance support, and improves coexistence through CSA#2. Nordic's software architecture allows a clear separation between the RF protocol software and the Weiyun Zhilian application code, which simplifies product development and ensures that the SoftDevice will not be damaged when developing, compiling, testing and verifying the application code. Song Lijun, Director of Research and Development of Weiyun Zhilian, said: "We chose Nordic's nRF52833 for AP300 and AP100, mainly because this SoC supports multiple wireless protocols, followed by its powerful processor, abundant memory capacity and wireless sensitivity. Other important features. The code separation between Nordic’s SoftDevice and the application is also the key reason we decided to use this solution. We developed our own application code, and the Nordic SDK provides great convenience for the development work."    "In addition, Nordic provides excellent reference design and technical support, and will respond to customer inquiries very quickly."   Except for nRF52833, Nordic's nRF52840 and nRF52820 multi-protocol SoCs all support the Zigbee protocol. This RF protocol is very important for wireless networks in Internet of Things and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. Zigbee and Bluetooth low energy, Thread, IEEE802.15.4 and 2.4GHz proprietary technologies together form the basis of Nordic's market-proven short-range wireless product portfolio. The AP300 and AP100 products of Weiyun Zhilian use Nordic's multi-protocol SoC to provide engineers with gateways, which can support Bluetooth low energy and Zigbee protocol IoT and IIoT applications.
